Fist To The Sky

Windy City metallers FIST TO THE SKY are a four piece melodic metal band. They pride themselves on their energetic and clever stage presence. What makes them unique is their ability to fuse melodic melodies into their heavy and in your face, but radio friendly sound. The young quartet formed in the fall of 2008. Lead vocals and bass are fronted by Mickey Murder. Flipp handles the lead guitar work along with most backing vocals. Rhythm guitarist Hollywood and drummer JD handle all the other backing vocal duties. The band was founded by brothers Mickey Murder and Flipp, and their cousin Hollywood.

“Nothing to lose, something to prove, it’s the fuel to the fire that is this band.” says Flipp.

After their initial formation in late 2008, the band focused the next year on writing for their first demo release. In May of 2010, FIST TO THE SKY’s first nine song self-recorded and self-produced demo album called "Light the World Up” was released. The release would later prove to be a success for FTTS, going on to independently sell over one thousand copies and counting. However, in lieu of the release’s success, the band was finding themselves looking for a replacement on drums shortly after the release. They found their perfect match in the addition of drummer JD in the summer of 2011.

“Best Original Band of 2011” voted on by Suburban NiteLife Magazine.”

FIST TO THE SKY has become known to play at some of the best venues in and around their hometown of Chicago, IL. This includes, but is not limited to; The House of Blues - Chicago, Bottom Lounge, Durty Nellies, The Cobra Lounge, Another Hole In The Wall, Penny Road Pub, and Shark City. They have independently toured through Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan and are looking to keep hitting the pavement. During this time on the road, they have shared the stage with national acts such as Bullet For My Valentine, Halestorm, 12 Stones, Cavo, The Veer Union, Hell or Highwater, Rains, Janus, Madina Lake, and other well known bands such as Like A Storm, Blameshift, Underride and 3 Pill Morning.

“One of the hardest working bands in the Chicago-land area” – Vision Entertainment

Talent, dedication, desire and a well-rounded image have this band creating a buzz. They currently hold endorsements with Beaver Bottom Cabinets and Steve Clayton Guitar Picks. The band has also caught the attention of Chicago’s Rock Magazine editor Mario Salazar.

“FTTS is a young group of rockers with fire in their eyes. They are a heavy rock band with somewhat of an alternative twist to their sound.” – Mario Salazar,

On December 6, 2011 the band released a two song single disc titled "Down Into Hell – Single." The disc and mp3 downloads can be purchased at a FTTS show, on iTunes, AmazonMP3, CD Baby, and all other major digital retailers. The "Down Into Hell - Single" was recorded at Mercenary Digital Studios in Zion, IL with engineer Scott Creekmore (Dirge Within, I Killed Everyone).

Voted “Independent Band of the Year” for 2012

With a very positive and overwhelming response from fans from the “Down Into Hell- Single” disc, the band decided to give back to the fans. On September 8th 2012, the band released a live music video for “Another Lesson Learned” which captured multiple shows the band did after their release. The music video features the band’s energetic and high octane live show, while showing that special connection that they have with their fan base and a “behind the scene” feel of what goes on with the band before and after shows.

Currently, the band has just finished off a long run of shows and mini tours, dating back to February 2012. The band is actively promoting “Forever We Will Stand” while continuing to hit the pavement on the road. The new EP, mixed by Daniel Castleman (Trivium, As I Lay Dying) and mastered by Brad Blackwood (All That Remains, Nonpoint, Shinedown) made its worldwide debut on 10/29/2013. You can find the band on their website,, or on the many social networking sites they update daily.

TanZen is a progressive/altmetal band from Chicago, IL. Their latest release Shizoku is a a peak into a new direction for the band on the first two songs 'Zombie's Dust' and 'What Are the Rules?' as they blend ambient guitars, low tuning, upbeat grooves, and melodic vocals.

"The music instantly reminds one of acts like Monuments and Tesseract, without ever becoming just another clone version of the former. Its quite evident that TanZen are aiming to create their own niche sonic identity." - ItDjentsTV

In addition to their own individual success, they have jumped on any and every show to help get the EP into the hands of anyone that would listen. Having recently supported Erra, Fit For an Autopsy, Veil of Maya, The Summer Slaughter Tour and venturing out of genre to open for Twenty One Pilots and Wale at the UIC pavilion, TanZen plans on shattering genre boundaries and blending in wherever people are willing to listen.

TanZen dares to ask the listener 'What Are the Rules?' while the band throws the rules out the window and lets the music do the talking.
