After students at Curie High School longed to keep singing after the school musical ended, director Michael Gibson decided to start an after-school vocal group. They became Musicality, which became a safe haven for students who needed somewhere to develop their passion for performing. Musicality specializes in multi-genre arrangements, especially pop and musical theater. They have performed on some of the largest stages in Chicago such as The Chicago Theater, The Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park, The Harris Theater, Symphony Center and countless more. After their “Hamilton” covers gained popularity on YouTube, they were asked to audition for season 11 of NBC’s hit show “America’s Got Talent.” They never dreamed they would make it all the way to the semi-finals. They also are recipients of a 2016 Hollywood Foreign Press Awards Grant and a 2017 Young Entertainer’s Award Scholarship. Since their run on America’s Got Talent, the group has expanded and opened its doors to youth all around the city of Chicago. They continue to perform regularly, record new music, film music videos, and spread their message of the importance of the arts education.
