THE FUTURE LAUREATES

THE FUTURE LAUREATES

Fresh off performances at Summerfest and CMJ Music Marathon. The Future Laureates head down to SXSW having just released their new EP, Here and After, a showcase of vibrant and mature songcraft. With the help of Grammy-nominated producer, Chris Grainger (Wilco, Switchfoot, Sixpence None the Richer, and Kopecky Family Band), TFL has finally captured the unabashed energy of their live shows on record. The band delves into varied subject matter, ranging from an apocalyptic escape, to modern love songs, to a eulogy of Don Quixote, told from the perspective of his loyal servant. They also flex some new musical muscles, pulling from their influences in modern rock, classic pop, rhythmic folk, and 60’s soul.

“A sweeping, jaunty uplift…complete with big, swinging hooks” – The Village Voice
“Energetic, acoustic-driven pop melodies with a charming folk feel” – Chicagoist
“The Future Laureates are a great example of how the Midwest music scene is on the rise” – The Examiner

VINTAGE BLUE

VINTAGE BLUE

Trends and fads come and go, but honest, heartfelt rock ‘n’ roll is here to stay, especially if Chicago rockers Vintage Blue have anything to say about it. Described as “poised to become the Windy City’s next great rock n’ rollers” by SOCO Magazine, their freshman LP – Strike The Mics, produced by the Grammy-nominated Jamie Candiloro (REM, Ryan Adams) has been added to over 170 radio stations across the country and Canada, and has been the subject of features on both WXRT in Chicago and WOCM in Ocean City, Maryland as well as a national television placement on WGN TV. Released in February 2012, Strike The Mics was met with even further acclaim, as the band sold out their CD Release show at Subterranean in Chicago and headlined at the Chicago House of Blues.

Since creating the band in 2011, Vintage Blue, which includes Will Crowden (grandson of the founder of Ludwig Drum Company) and songwriters Ryan Tibbs and Ben Bassett, have had the opportunity to support some excellent musical talents, including: Lifehouse, Fitz & The Tantrums, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes, JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound, The Punch Brothers, Brett Dennen, Local H, Vertical Horizon and 10,000 Maniacs. The band even spent some time touring with Sister Hazel in 2011 and 2012, which further fueled their growth and their desire to reach the masses. What they learned from those bands can be seen in their live performance, with one reviewer saying “they have a lot of fun and it is contagious,” and from another show describing the musicianship as “not only technically proficient … but entertaining.”

Although the band are regulars in the ever-thriving Chicago club scene, selling out shows at the House of Blues, Lincoln Hall, Double Door, Schubas and Subterranean, the band also just completed their first national tour in 2012. The band rocked with some great crowds in Nashville, Atlanta, Ocean City, Philadelphia and Cleveland … and that’s only the beginning. This band is already working on the next big thing here in Chicago, while booking around the country for 2014.
